Digital Mittelformat

Till today I have NOT own/used any Digital Medium Format camera.
So the following is not driven from own experince.

Pros of Digital Medium Sensor Format Photography compared to smaller Sensor Formats

Resolution and Bit Depth:
Higher resolutions and/or bit depths are available.

Cons of Digital Medium Sensor Format Photography compared to smaller Sensor Formats

Cost:
Medium format cameras and lenses tend to be more expensive than full frame.
Limitations due to the available lenses:
Availabilty of lenses for Digital Medium format cameras is more limited. Especially when when full lens camera interoperabity is needed. Pure medium format back or mirrorless cameras are not (such) affected.

My Conclusion(s)

Dual Strategy:
At moment, I do not consider to go towards a medium format digital camera for capterung purpose. But for scanning analog pictures is this likley thge way to go midterm. (State of 9/2024)
