Use Color Filters for (panchromatic) Black & White Film:

When the light, ISO, aperture, and shutter speed allow, color filters can often improve the image grey tones.
-
Use Raw Data (or similar like 16-bit Tiff) when ever possible:
-
The greater bit depth and lack of preprocessing allow for better post-processing of any kind. Data reduction is always the last step you should apply when eve possible.
-
120/220 film - Use an edge cutter
-
Use an edge cutter for the 120/220 film to round the film edges before spooling into the development spiral. This helps a lot for Jobo* spirals and likley similar. For 135 film, this is less needed and angle cutting with scissor when cutting of the film end is anyhow quicker. BTW: In past dedicated film end cutters were on the market.
